Congratulations to VIIN member Dr Tania de Koning-Ward, recipient of the Commonwealth Health Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Health and Medical Research.

The award was presented by the Honourable Mark Butler MP, Minister for Mental Health and Ageing at the Australian Society for Medical Research dinner in Melbourne on June 9, 2011.  

Tania's laboratory at Deakin University investigates the molecular pathogenesis of malaria. She presented her work on protein export in malaria parasites at the inaugural Lorne Infection and Immunity Conference in February this year.
