Research Activities

I am currently interested in Microbial Genomics; using Metagenomics sequencing. Trying to develop methods that could identify pathogenic bacteria and AMR genes leading to the causes of Neonatal sepsis in a hospital-based setting in The Gambia. Currently working on developing an assay using CRISPR base technique to identify low abundant sequences of interest (AMR genes to gram-negative ESBL producers).

Techniques/Expertise

Basic Python and R programming languages
Next Generation Sequencing
Microbial culture, identification and susceptibility testing
Molecular techniques; DNA/RNA purification, PCR, library preparations for NGS and Oxford Nanopore Technology
Bioinformatics
Unix Shell command line and GitHub
Microsoft Office tools
