Research Activities

I have been carrying out interdisciplinary research on genomics-driven discovery, biosynthetic pathway characterization and bioengineering of therapeutically important natural products (e.g. antimicrobial agents, anticancer agents) from a wide range of bacteria.

Techniques/Expertise

Recombinant protein overproduction, purification and characterisation,
enzymatic assay development,
intact protein mass spectrometry,
metabolite analysis using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry,
natural product isolation
bacterial biosynthetic gene cluster bioinformatics

Genetically Modified Organisms

Burkholderia, Pseudomonas, Chromobacterium and Streptomyces
