Careers Evening 2014

7 May 2014

The second, annual VIIN Careers Evening was again a success with postgraduate students and postdoctoral researchers from a number of VIIN organisations turning out at the Woodward Conference Centre in Carlton to learn about a variety of career options available.

2 - Unnamed

Drew Berry, Biomedical Animator at Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, began the presentations with some fascinating movies and insights into careers in Science Communication.

Mark Wickham from Phillips Ormonde Fitzpatrick detailed the steps required to progress from Research Scientist to Patent Attorney.

They both started out as Victorian College of Pharmacy students, but Kylie McIntosh and Michelle McIntosh told of different paths travelled to now have successful careers in government and academia respectively.

Finally Michelle Gallaher had wise words of advice and many stories to tell of her journey from Ophthalmologist to CEO!

This is an annual event so please keep an eye out for VIIN Careers Evening 2015.
