Other opportunities
I have the pleasure of working closely with industry partner Rob Bischof at Allergenix. Allergenix is an Australian-based contract research organisation that specialises in sheep models of pulmonary drug delivery, and pulmonary disease models including asthma, COPD and fibrosis.Latest News
My first paper as co-author published this year: Derseh, H.B., Davies, A.N., Young, A. et al. The poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor olaparib attenuates established pulmonary fibrosis in a large animal model. BMC Pulm Med 25, 374 (2025). https://doi.org/10.1186/s12890-025-03803-w
Research Activities
Interest in respiratory research, especially pre-clinical in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo studies that will help increase knowledge about respiratory diseases and help find areas that may be therapeutically targeted for treatment options. Recently commenced PhD (July 2025) - continuing research from my honours year (2024). PhD thesis title: Development and pre-clinical testing of an inhalable Olaparib formulation for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis. Previous research determined that Olaparib (a current drug used for cancer treatment) showed potential as an oral treatment. This research aims to further investigate the therapeutic potential of Olaparib by developing an inhalable formulation and then testing it using our labs sheep model.Techniques/Expertise
